Arlington is a bit of hypothetical anthropology. It skirts the line between documentary and fiction.

The video is drawn from a mostly forgotten family album. The project addresses relationships between narrative, history and interpretation. Each piece features local images, statements, and formal lapses that work together like a rebus, inviting viewers to contextualize and project information in order to establish meaning. The work is an exploration of tensions between origin and depiction. It addresses the inevitable subjectivity involved in reading and rendering history, recognizes translation as a generative process, and suggests how original elements from the past may re-emerge or be reconfigured to have implication in the present.
